Whether local, national or international, Slow Food organises events to celebrate and promote producers who grow delicious foods in ecologically friendly ways.
Each convivium organises its own local events which can be anything from visits to places of food and drink interest, to demonstrations, talks or campaigns, and Taste Workshops (where participants can try products while these are discussed and explained by producers and experts).
Most Convivia also organise national events like the Slow Food Ireland Weekend, when visitors can try wild smoked salmon and Kerry beef, or visit producers of black pudding and raw milk cheeses, with Irish food historians, journalists and chefs.
And, of course, there are the big international events such as the Salone del Gusto (which runs for five days and provides not just food and wine from dozens of countries, but several hundred Taste Workshops, culinary tours of Piedmont and ‘famous name’ cookery demonstrations) or the three day ‘Cheese’ festival or the ‘Slow Fish’ event for sustainable seafood – and many more!
