Newquay Fish Festival
Held over 3 days from 8th – 10th September 2006.
The festival celebrates the tradition of fishing in the Newquay area and
the economic importance of the fishing industry to the community.
Restormel Borough Council have helped the residents of Newquay by
agreeing funding to continue the annual fish festival. Over the past
three years the Festival has continued to develop, moving from a two day
event to a three day event and now includes local food from Cornish
exhibitors as well as seafood.
Event Organiser, Alan Thain says: "The Festival gives Newquay an
opportunity to showcase one of its hidden gems 'the harbour' and has
proven an extremely popular event with both residents and visitors. The
event takes place in September as a follow on to the main holiday
period, and has been blessed with marvelous weather every year. The
practical cookery demonstrations by local chefs are undoubtedly the
highlight of the festival, with hotels and restaurants being able to
promote local fresh fish and shellfish and locally available produce
Slow Food Cornwall are manning a stall and invite Members and visitors
