FALMOUTH OYSTER FESTIVAL ARTICLE

Falmouth Oyster Festival celebrates the start of the oyster season and the diversity and quality of Cornish Seafood and in particular, one of the last remaining traditional oyster fisheries.

The festival will open with a cookery master-class with celebrity chef Clarissa Dickson Wright followed by a packed programme of cookery demonstrations by leading local chefs, oysters, seafood, wine and ale, children’s shell painting, sea shanties, town parade, live music and marquees packed with Cornish produce and crafts. The festival has broad appeal and is a must for all oyster, seafood and marine heritage enthusiasts - come and enjoy lunch and savour the atmosphere!

New this year is a 'Ready, Steady, Cook' evening on Friday with chefs Nick Hodges from Lusty Glaze and Artie Williams from The Cove, plus live music from The Shirts. The contestants will be selected through a competition run on BBC local radio, the evening will be compared by a BBC Radio presenter and is set to become a regular highlight of the festival.

Also new for 2007 - visitors to the festival will be able to enjoy a highly entertaining evening with Tom Cunliffe, well known yachting journalist and broadcaster, and Claudia Myatt, marine illustrator and author. There will be musical entertainment, with fish supper, oysters, wine and Cornish ale available.

A warm welcome and a feast for all senses will whet your appetite both during the daytime and the two evenings!
