Cities of the Red Orange Dinner 23/02/06:

Along with 80 other Slow Food Convivia from Italy, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Germany and Japan, Slow Food Cornwall members took part in a simultaneous ‘Cities of the Red Orange Dinner’ on 23 February 2006.
Slow Food Lentini, a Sicilian Chapter, sent red oranges and sweet wine to all 80 venues in celebration of the Sicilian red orange.

Our Cornish event was held at the Tresanton (thanks to Committee member and Tresanton restaurant manager, Federica Bertolini), but it was the job of Tresanton chef, Paul Wadham, to combine the Sicilian produce with as much local Cornish produce as possible in his creative 3-course dinner.

With an entertaining contribution from speaker, Nick Barclay, of the awardwinning Barclay House Hotel, and special guest Jill Stein, tickets for the dinner sold out very quickly.

Slow Food Cornwall Chair, Bob Lindo, says: “This is an imaginative idea, which we in Cornwall could copy for marketing our produce overseas. We had a great evening at the Tresanton, but there are lots of other events coming up this year right across Cornwall, which members and others can come along to or get involved in.”
