REPORT ON POTTERY PIPPINS & PORK
18th OCTOBER 2006
A pleasant group of members and friends from all over
Cornwall shared an informal day with a visit to Prindl Pottery, Cornwall
Orchards, followed by lunch at Polraen Manor Hotel.
Chris Prindl welcomed us with coffee and delicious cake before giving us
a virtuoso display on his wheel, effortlessly turning lumps of clay into
delicate bowls and vases. The historical forge provided a romantic
background for a fascinating visit.
We continued our tour to the Cornwall Orchard in Duloe where owner Andy
Atkinson welcomed us with an exclusive tour of his presses. Andy’s
professionalism and pride of his traditionally made fruit juices and
ciders was infectious, and we enjoyed tasting several of the varieties,
including a delicious mulled drink full of the flavours of Autumn.
Our shared lunch brought us together in an informal setting where we
could get to know one another better. Jill and Martin Bridges cooked us
a hearty meal of locally reared pork, roasted lashings of crackling,
apple sauce and seasonal vegetables. This was topped up with apple
puddings using their own garden fruit.
We look forward to sharing another SFC event soon!
